Q: How large is your facility?

A: 1.1 acres

Q: Is you facility indoors and outdoors?

A: Both. Two full sized homes on the property, and about 10 yards of various sizes.

Q: How many employees do you have?

A: About 25-30. We have the highest staff-to-dog ratio of anyone…I think.

Q: What is unique about your facility?

A: We are totally cage-free 24-hours-a-day. Every other facility that I know of locks up the dogs at night and for portions of the day. At Paradise Ranch, dogs are never locked up or left alone, day or night. And we have a “Water Park for Dogs”. It’s grand opening was a big news event last August.

Q: Do you have a web camera?

A: We have 11 web-cams. Customers can pan-and-tilt-and-zoom some of them, especially the outdoors ones.

Q: What type of boarding accommodations do you offer?

A: All cage-free. The dogs play together in yards with other dogs of similar size and temperment during the day, and sleep slumber-party-style at night with human caretakeers in the homes. We do offer a few private rooms for dogs that need “special handling” (don’t get along with other dogs). All of our rooms and homes are decorated “resort-style” with real human furniture, beds, couches, etc…what we call “true home environment”.

Q: What services do you offer? (grooming, training, pick up and drop off).

A: We are very big on training and have two of the best trainers I have ever met. Our grooming is mostly baths…we do some cuts…but we don’t employ a grooming “stylist” because there is little call for it at our facility. We have a Mercedes “Mutt Cab” for taxi service.

Q: How do you relate to your community?

A: We have a good relationship with our neighbors and the surrounding area. My wife Kristyn is very involved in the local community council and was formerly the president. We cooperate with the local rescues and shelters and hold some small events to promote their pet first-aid efforts (we are restricted from holding any large events due to our zoning). We have a program called “Rescue to Paradise” where we foster two rescue dogs at at time and give them a full-blown training package so that they are more desirable as potential adoptees.

Q: What kind of animals do you board?

A: Dogs and cats. 99% dogs.

Q: How do you keep your facility clean?

A: We have very high sanitation protocols that are followed everyday. All the yards and homes are sanitized daily using an industry approved sanitizing agent that is as effective as possible against every bacteria and virus that can infect dogs. All of our bedding is laundered everyday in commercial machines. Our staff picks up all dog excrement as soon as it is seen, and must walk every yard every 15 minutes looking for anything that may have been missed. Dog waste is placed in covered trash cans with plastic liners with deoderizing chemicals that are in each yard, and the tools are soaked in the sanitizing agent until the next use. They spray each spot where waste is found with the sanitizing agent and rinse with water. In addition to the canine handlers, we have a full-time landscaper, housekeeper, and maintenance man, each working every day.

Q: How do you keep your facility secured from dogs escaping?

A: There is a 6 foot high concrete wall around the entire property and the entier wall is lined with a 3 foot wide planter full of tropical plants and another wire fence. No dog has ever made it “over the wall”.

Q: Is your facility cage free?

A: Yes. More so than any other. You might be interested to know that the founder and co-owner of Paradise Ranch (my wife, Kristyn Goddard) is the originator of the cage-free dog boarding movement. When she introduced the idea to the American Kennel Association 17 years ago, she was shunned and told she was crazy. Five years later, they were giving lessons on how to run a cage-free operation (after my wife’s huge success). Now they have changed their name to omit the word “kennel”.
