1. Do you have a dog friendly menu?

Yes! We offer a grilled chicken breast, tofu, hamburger patty or a steak. There is no printed menu- it’s a verbal menu that the servers offer to those with dogs on our patio.

2. What inspired you to name your restaurants Lazy Dog Cafe?

Growing up, Chris and his family would vacation in the breathtaking mountains of Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Whether it was skiing in the winter or fishing in the summer, Chris will tell you that even today it is the place he goes when he wants to get away and relax. When you are in any one of the Lazy Dog Café restaurants, you will see how Chris has tried to capture and recreate the feeling he gets when in Jackson Hole. He wants you to feel like you are walking into a place that is the perfect balance of warm and comfortable, yet full of excitement and positive energy. For Chris, the lodge represents vacations with family and friends. Jackson Hole is a small town with a true sense of hospitality. Get your car stuck in the snow, and the next person who passes by will stop to help. Most likely, they’ll even know your name.

Where did the Lazy Dog Café name come from?

One snowy afternoon, walking back into the lodge after a long morning on the slopes, Chris noticed a dog lying by the toasty fireplace. Commenting to his buddies on how much he loved his time hanging out there, he told them he wished everyone could enjoy life as much as that “lazy dog’ by the fire.

On their last run down the ski slopes in Jackson Hole, everyone has one thing on their mind: get these skis off and head to the lodge. Whether you’re sitting by the fire or bellying up to the bar, the servers and bartenders know what you like and treat you like you’re one of the family. The lodge has cold beer, hot chocolate, incredible food and great music, making it the place to be in town. Just like the lodge in Jackson Hole, the Lazy Dog offers the perfect environment for all ages, making the entire restaurant the place to be for a quick dinner with the family, a meandering meal with friends or a night out on the town!


3. Do you do anything in the community to help rescue dogs or sponsor any shelters or the like?

Lazy Dog Cafe is proud to support the communities in which we do business. We fulfill all donation requests for donations from local rescues and shelters. We also post profiles on our social media outlets for lost dogs or dogs that need a home for local shelters and animal rescue groups. We have also collected food, blankets and beds for organizations during natural disasters to aid the pet community. Our major focus in the community is donating volunteers, food &  prizes for local events that raise money for schools & education. If you’re in the mood for some great dessert try the Blue Velvet Cake with Passion Fruit Iced Tea, this is our favorite combo.We love the gorgeous outdoor seating area shaded by beautiful trees set in a cottage-like setting. In the evening time enjoy the patio area with lit trees, a true garden feel.

Enjoy the Dog friendly patio and best of all Lamill Coffee is an eight-minute walk to the Silver Lake Dog Park, so grab your favorite coffee and go! Parking provided in the back.

One of our favorite sidewalk restaurants on Honolulu is “The Star Café”. They have been serving the community for the past 14 years. A must try is the chicken tequila and spinach fettuccini. It is truly an amazing dish. They also have a variety of delicious hand tossed oak fired pizza, grilled entrees and fresh salads and sandwiches to pick from.  Ask the waiter and see what recommendations they might have for the pooch as well.

Looking for something different to do with your K9 this weekend?

Check out the itinerary we got for you.

Start off the morning with a beautiful hike to Monrovia Canyon Falls.

Take the I-210 Foothill Freeway driving through Monrovia and exit at Myrtle Avenue and turn north (toward the mountains). Drive north on Myrtle through Old Town Monrovia one mile to Foothill Blvd. Turn right and go two lights to Canyon Blvd. Turn left, drive through residential area for about 0.7 mile to Scenic Dr. and follow Canyon Blvd as it curves to the right. In another 0.3 mile, turn right into Canyon Park and go to the park entry station where you will pay a $5 dollar parking fee.

This is an amazing hike that you and your K9 will fall in love with. Make sure to head out early, as this trail gets crowded quickly. The park opens at 8am.

The trail will take you past several beautiful oak, maple and sycamore trees. You will also notice the wonderful scent of sage around you. The trail concludes with the spectacular 30-foot Monrovia Canyon Fall.

After you’ve completed this 3.4-mile round trip hike, most likely you and your furry friend have worked up an appetite. But not to worry because K9TailsLA has just the right spot for you and its called  “Sunday’s Old Town Bistro”, located on 520 S. Myrtle Ave in Old Town Monrovia.

Sunday’s Old Town Bistro opened three months ago and one of our their 1st customers was Jen Haven and her Dog “Bicycle.” Then came Bhodi, Frisco, Fred and Cleo the Cat… not to mention many – many more pooches and kitties. Sunday Loft (Owner/Operator) grew up in Monrovia and was a waitress for 25 years at a handful of restaurants in her beloved city before finally opening her own little place. She has always embraced the Animal Loving Community and that is why she put a “Pup-Peroni” Hot Dog (Hot Dog wrapped in Pepperoni), on her Menu along with other doggie treats.

Her little Bistro has fresh water for dogs on the go in front of the restaurant and also on the back patio, which allows dogs, cats, etc. to quietly sit with their owners and enjoy the fun-family atmosphere Sunday has created.

We recommend the Eggs Benedict or the breakfast Crepes. Also, check out the bistro for lunch and dinner.
