Another Beautiful Dog Friendly Hike!
At K9TailsLA, we love to sniff out dog friendly trails with waterfalls, so we’ve gone ahead and explored the Wildwood Regional Park in Thousand Oaks where the beautiful 70ft Paradise falls resides.
According to the COSF.org website, more than 250 plant species have been identified within the park. Plant communities include:
- Southern oak woodland,
- Riparian woodland,
- Chaparral,
- Coastal sage scrub,
- Desert scrub,
- California grassland
Wildwood Park is perhaps best known for its spring wild-flower displays from January to June.
More than 60 species of birds, 37 species of mammals, and 22 species of reptiles and amphibians can be found here. Dense vegetation
associated with oak woodlands creates ideal fawning conditions for the park’s mule deer population. Bobcats and coyotes also inhabit the park, and mountain lions are occasionally present.
Although we did not see any mountain lions or deer’s on our hike always keep a short leash on your pooch. During the summer months you may also run into rattlesnakes.
Overall this is a beautiful and easy hike. A must hike on the K9TailsLA list.
So how do you get there, you say?
If your heading west take the 210 W to the 118 W and Continue onto CA 23 S, Take exit 12 for Janss Rd, turn right onto E Janss Rd and continue until you hit De Los Arboles Ave. Make a left on De Los Arboles and continue. The Park will be on your right hand side. You will have to make a U turn into the dirt parking lot.
